Hiking & mountain experience

There are over 900 km of hiking and walking trails and paths throughout the holiday region, offering ideal conditions for discovering the mountains in the area. The Alpbachtal is situated in a unique position with the Kitzbühel Alps to the West and the Zillertal and Tux Alps on the doorstep. The beauty of the rugged Rofan Range never fails to enchant hikers and mountaineers. The hiking areas three summer mountain lifts in Reith im Alpbachtal, Alpbach and Auffach help one to reach the heights. Use of the summer mountain lifts is free of charge for our guests with the Alpbachtal Card.

Reith im Alpbachtal, which is known for its flowers and suitability as a resort for families is home to an 8-seater gondola, which is practically opposite the Angerer Familienappartements. The gondola brings one up the Reither Kogel in about 8 minutes. The walking area on the Reither Kogel is ideal for families and those who love more gentle paths. The 2.5 km long „Juppi Zauberwald" (Juppi's enchanted forest) circular path delights all, the various play areas keep children busy and the views from the viewing platform fascinate all.

Close by, the Wiedersbergerhorn 6-seater gondola takes hikers up to a plateau at the base of the Wiedersbergerhorn peak. Children and families will have a great time at 1.900 m altitude in the adventure playground „Lauserland" with giant slides, tunnels, a pond, a waterwheel, the Alpine Coaster “Lauser Sauser” and many other fun play areas. Mountaineers can walk up the nearby peak, the Wiedersbergerhorn (2.127 m). A popular day tour starting from the gondola top station is the hike to the peaks of the Sagtaler Spitzen. Other popular peaks in the Alpbachtal are the Gratlspitz (1.899 m), the Gamskopf (2.205 m) or the Große Galtenberg (2.424 m).

The Sonnwendjoch in Kramsach is considered one of the most beautiful hiking areas of the county with its bizarre rock formations and the crystal clear Lake Zirein. Paths lead to the Sonnwendjoch (2.224 m), the Rofanspitze (2.259 m) or the Sagzahn (2.228 m).

Several theme paths give one the opportunity to see the region in a different light. Discover the "Wasserwanderweg", the Nature & Heritage trail in Alpbach, sections of the Eagles Trail and St. James Way and the “Leichter Lernen Wanderweg” (Easy Learning Trail).

Swimming & water

Experience the many facets of water, bathing and more in the Alpbachtal. Natural water sources are abundant in the Alpbachtal region. Five beautiful and warm lakes await bathers and swimmers, the wild water rushing through the gorges always fascinates visitors and the outstanding drinking water quality is marketed by three companies who bottle mineral water.

The lake in Reith is a mere 5 minute walk from the Angerer Alpine Suites and Family Apartments Tirol. The lake is situated at the heart of the village. A large lido, children's playing area, changing cubicles and a snack bar cater for all needs. Other lakes in the region are Lake Reintal, and Lake Berglstein in Kramsach and the "Badl" in Breitenbach. Admission to these lakes is free of charge with your Alpbachtal Card. The card also covers admission to the Wörgler Wasserwelt WAVE and the outdoor swimming pools in Brixlegg and Münster.

The gorges in the Alpbachtal region are natural gems. Well secured paths lead through the gorges making them accessible to walkers. The Kundl Gorge leading to the Wildschönau is ideal for families. The path is suitable for children's prams and pushchairs.

For those looking for an adrenaline kick Sport Ossi and his experienced and skilled team are the people to contact. To mention some of the activities Ossi offers: tube riding, rafting, wild water swimming, canyoning and kayaking are some of the fun, adventurous things one can do. Mountain Biking and Cycling in the Alpbachtal

Reith im Alpbachtal is a good starting point to set off on various gorgeous mountain bike tours. On several occasions Reith was a stage on the well-known Transalp Challenge, a mountain bike race through the Alps taking several days. More leisurely cycling paths can be found along the Ziller Valley (Zillertalradweg) or alongside the River Inn (Inntalradweg) and are very popular with families. Free riders looking to improve their technique should make it a point to ride the Freeride trail Laubwerk in Alpbach.
